Lack of Competition Means Average Food at $$$$ 8/24/2009

Decided to give Christopher's a try since there's a distinct lack of one-of restaurants in the area. Was expecting the higher-than-average price and expected quality in keeping with the cost. Disappointed in the appetizer (gingered calamari). It was soggy and tasted indistinguishable from a microwaveable counterpart. Entree (salmon with pecan crust) on par with a bad night experimenting in the kitchen. The bbq sauce topping was reminiscent of places KC Masterpiece was never meant to visit. The braised short rib was tender and adequately portioned. We would recommend it far sooner than the salmon. The service was a bit inattentive, leaving me several times looking around for the server. The setting is quaint and cozy, with booth areas as well as intimate table areas. Two entrees, one glass of wine and an appetizer came to (with tip) $70 total. All told, I wouldn't revolt too strongly if someone were to suggest returning there, but it's not anywhere on our ""must take Grandma"" list. Pros: quiet, cozy Cons: average, almost generic offerings, disappointing service more
