11 yr old Cat goes in for gland surgery and they say at the same time we recommend teeth cleaning, etc while they have her sedated. Surgery appears to go OK, cat comes home, they inform us she has kidney count that indicates chronic kidney disease (most cats eventually die from this, not unusual in 11 yr old cat). While she is still in recovery they advise yet one more bloood test, change her diet..mis informing me of how to transition to new food (receptionist told me one day transition), and all along they were sedating my cat for each follow up treatment without informing me that is a stress for older cats with high kidney values. The cat goes from 6 days out of surgery with her old food bouncing around, running for treats (even with the big cone on) to post food change, 2nd or 3rd anesthia for routing tests on her deathbed, and the vet telling me I better start to consider humanely ending her life....wowl Needless to say if that is what we have to do it will not happen at this place. The receptionists always look like they have too much time on their hands...talking and laughing about their personal issues whey you are in waiting room with terminal cat on your hands..not professional or respectul. Even on the way out after they recommended euthanasia they tried to sell me an $80 food supplement. For what food is this supposed to supplement I asked. After the receptionist went into the back and came out they admitted it was not needed....I am so heartbroken and disgusted at this place. BEWARE. If you animal can survive the choas and over selling of this place, god bless them, but if they are older animals I would definately stay clear. By the way after further research I have found that there are several don't when it comes to cats with high kidney values..Dont
-over stress them with change in diet during surgical procedures. Eating anything is better than nothing.
-putting a cat out by gas is stressful on the cat and its bloood flow - yes bad for kidney disease.
-in older cats dont take the chance of deep cleaning teach during other surgical procedures before kidney values have been confirmed as normal. If a mistake is made by a tech with minimum experience and cat gets infection in mouth with high kidney values....she may be a gonner.
All of these best practices were ignored by ABC...2000 dollars later...two weeks later...on terminal cat later.
Pros: there have flexible hours 7 days a week
Cons: too many to count
