The best Indian cuisine in Utah, hands down. 7/17/2009

We heard about Ganesh from a friend who highly recommended it. So we happened to be driving by on a Sunday and decided to stop in. They were offering their Chaat Sunday buffet. There were a lot of great offerings and they all tasted fresh and flavorful. The price was very reasonable and the service was very good. Later that week, we returned to Ganesh to try their entrees. We?re big fans of Thali-style Indian dining and Ganesh is one of the few places in town that offer it. (Thali-style gives you the entr?e plus 3 small side dishes and dessert.) Both of our dinners were wonderful. They tasted great and the service was prompt and friendly. Since Ganesh was close to our home, we?d found a new favorite. Now when we decide to go out to dinner, it?s hard not to go to Ganesh. We?ve tried practically everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. Our favorites are the Shahi Paneer, Daal Curry, and Baigan Bhartha. We usually order the vegetarian dishes, but we will also order non-veggie items like Egg Curry and Chicken Tikki Masala. The staff is diligent in asking how spicy you want your dish on a scale of mild, medium, or hot. But you should know that hot is an authentic Indian hot, not a ?Utah hot?. So if you?re sensitive to spicy food, I would recommend mild or medium. But if your thermostat is set higher than normal (like mine), go hot. You?ll love it! You can also order a Mango Lassi (a traditional Indian yogurt drink) or, if so inclined, a Taj Mahal lager beer. (Taj Mahals are HUGE and the staff at Ganesh will gladly let you split one.) We usually go to Ganesh for dinner, but we?ve also stopped in for their weekday lunch buffet. There are plenty of choices and are always well stocked. It?s so nice to take friends and family there and know that there will be lots to choose from, veggie and non-veggie alike. Plus, I know that I can pick up the tab without breaking the bank. Lastly, I can?t remember ever getting a dirty plate, glass, or utensil. These moments are bound to happen at any restaurant, but we?ve never had it happen at Ganesh. If you already love Indian food, you?ll love Ganesh. However, if you?re new to Indian food and are looking to expand your horizons, go to Ganesh first. You might as well start at the top. Pros: Authenticity, flavor, & quality of the food & great service. Cons: Location is a little hard to find, but well worth it. more
