I am originally from Harlingen but have lived up in Austin for almost 4 yrs now. Every time we visit the the valley or go to SPI we stop at Pirates Landing. We have been eating at this restaurant for more then 10 yrs. In fact we ate there when it was it's original small self before the massive expansion. My husband surprised me on my birthday this last month and took me down there to get a beach fix and there was no doubt where we wanted to eat,PIRATES LANDING!!! We made our way to the restaurant and had a very good Pina Colada and was then seated at our table. I always get oysters and my husband blackened fish. The food this time around was not so great. The fish was good but my oysters lacked in crispiness and i did not eat but one which is rare . We addressed the issue with the waiter and he was very helpful and sent over the manager and we explained. He kindly took the order off our bill and was very apologetic. I believe that sometimes small mom an pop places that decide to expand lose their touch and consistency. We will not return to Pirates Landing on our next visit but will miss the good ol place we used to love. Pros: great pina colada Cons: not what it used to be more
