Bought a Honda Element 3 weeks ago from Carey Paul Honda. It was an extremely pleasant experience until we started crunching numbers, negotiating my trade and the price of the Element. Suddenly, things weren't as friendly and carefree...and they started to put a lot of pressure on me. There wasn't a need for that because I was going to buy the car....I wasn't playing any games and I made that very clear. I let them know up front that I wanted a win-win situation...I wasn't going to overpay and I wasn't planning to underpay either....just wanted a fair sale. That is exactly what I ended up getting. I think people go into dealerships thinking these guys are "the enemy." They're really not. Treat them with respect and 9 times out of 10, they'll treat you the same way. I think we're brainwashed into believing that dealerships are evil. I agree there are often scams....but come on, no one is stealing your money right out of your wallet.
