American Quality Builders\r
Owner: Jerry Gonzales\r

Before you decide to use this builder of to buy one of his homes, there are some things you should be aware of.\r
\r
I purchased a home from this builder in October 2005. \r
\r
Without my permission, he landscaped the side yards and 25 percent of the back yard at my expense. He charged me for the driveway, I found out later that ten feet are required by City Law to be installed by the builder. He charged me for those ten feet and for the sidewalk from the driveway to the front door. There were some major changes in what was advertised in the For Sale flyer and what the home actually included. The advertisement called for a courtyard wall in the front yard. It listed a built-in microwave oven. There was a Corbel missing that he said would be installed. Finally, he deviated from the plans and installed the kitchen island too close to the refrigerator which interfered with opening the oven door. The LR Adobe fireplace was unfinished. None of these deficiencies were ever corrected. He simply refused to take care of resolving the issues.\r

During the winter of that year, we experience seven different leaks in the roof. I contacted the builder and asked him to fix the leaks. He sent a roofer and about a week later, he presented me with a bill for $600 for the repairs. There was major collateral damage to the unfinished fireplace in the LR – staining of the sheet rock, etc. More damage was visible on the wall in the garage. He refused to pay for or fix any of it until I contacted a lawyer to file a suit. Only then did he take back the $600 bill and fixed all the collateral damage. \r
In May 2009, we experienced another leak around a canalle on the east side of the garage. I called Mr. Gonzales to inform him of the leak and asked him to contact the roofing company he used previously. He was extremely rude and told me to contact them myself and abruptly hung up the phone. \r
This builder does not oversee the quality of subcontractor work and is very unreliable when it comes to follow-up help or support. He was quick to inform me that his one year warranty had expired and did not want anything to do with the house from that point on. He doesn’t care about his reputation and there are a number of other homeowners who still have problems with him and have taken action.\r
Beware with doing business with this individual.
Cons: Bad Craftmanship, Unwilling, Unreliable, Rude
