Poor Integrity - Did not honor gift certifificate 6/21/2009

I'm hopping mad and vow to not return to this nail salon. My daughter, several friends and acquaintances have gone there many times for pedicures and manicures and although the techs are not overly social, they do OK work. (I think that it?s rude to speak their native language to each other when clients are on the premises). My daughter got me a $50.00 gift certificate for Christmas to use at the Cali Pro Salon. The date on the cert was 12/9/08. I put it in my car's glove box so I would have it when I went to my next appt. During the winter months, I barley have any nail work done other than what I do at home. I went for my first pedi the end of March and have been back a few more times since then. I actually forgot that I had the certificate, but found it over the weekend when I was looking for something else. I went to the salon yesterday, had a manicure and Lana the tech refused to accept the cert because it was expired by 12 days. I tried to persuade Lana to honor it but she said no it was expired. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but aren?t these salons independently owned? Most certificates are good for at least a year and I really think that she made a poor business decision by not honoring the certificate. Anyway, the lesson of the story is don't by gift certificates from this place. Simply unbelievable that they don't value their customer based enough to honor a loyal customer's barely expired certificate. Pros: Conveniently Located to my home Cons: Not very friendly or social/ They ripped me off. more
