I go in for a regular cleaning. She totally scammed me into getting a ""deep cleaning"" and getting some fillings redone, using scare tactics talking about gum disease and periodontal disease and possible root canals. This despite never hearing about any of these possible issues from my prior dentist. I figured it's because my old dentist didn't do a very good job. I think it's the other way around though. She's on an insurance plan where she gets set rates. Cleanings don't net her much, but the more she does, the more she gets paid out of my pocket.
I come back for the deep cleaning and tell her I'm usually very difficult to get numb. She does the regular amount. Not numb. She does another shot. Still not numb. She gives me a third shot, finally I'm basically numb but it's not exactly comfortable. She does the ""deep cleaning"" in 10 mins, and 2 fillings in 20 mins.
The next week I went in to get the other side done, and I remind her how difficult it is to get me numb. She was clearly rushed because a prior appointment took too long. She didn't let me get all the way numb before she started redoing the fillings. Told her to stop and she gave me 2 more shots. Still not numb, but she was still rushing. Told her we had to just wait. I never did get fully numb, and then said she couldn't give me anymore and she'd have to put in temporary fillings and bring me back to use a more powerful anesthetic. More powerful? Why not use that in the first place since she knew how difficult it was to get me numb?!?!?! And the capper? She charged me an extra $120 for some other B.S. to put on my teeth to make them less sensitive--all because she used the less powerful stuff.
I find out after the whole thing that a good scaling and planing (that's actually necessary) should take at least 30 minutes for each side. Hers took 10.
So I decided to go back to my old dentist to let him clean up her mess. Now she wants to charge me $35 for copies of MY xrays because I signed the ""financial services disclosure."" What a scam.
