Bullying at Minot 5/30/2009

Minot Forest is supposed to have a zero tolerance policy against bullying. Can someone please tell me what that is supposed to mean?My daughter is in the first grade at this school.Every single day she comes home and tells me that this child called her fat or this child stomped on her foot.I do what any good mother would do and I promptly call the school and rant and rave like a psycopath. It is just that when you send your babies to school, you want them to learn.Im sure that every mom feels this way,but my daughter is the sweetest kid on the planet. She does not posess a mean bone in her body. She loves everybody. Her kindergarden teacher called her delayed for her age because she was always hugging and kissing everybody. What concerns me is that these kids are being so mean at such a tender age.Where are they learning at the age of six how to call another child a retard or a fat***?We as parents need to tkae some responsibility and talk to our children starting right now while they are still young enough to learn that mean comments can stay with a person for a lifetime. One of the children on the bus even told my daughter that her whole family was fat, even her pets!!!The bus is a whole seperate issue. The grades on the bus range from kindergarden to fifth grade which I think is a horrible idea.Alot of the kids on the bus are out of control. They swear at each other and break each others glasses. They are not forced to sit in thier seats. They jump all over the place.I called the school resource officer last thursday. On Friday she was on the bus with the kids.I was extremely impressed with her expedient response.Mary Walker is awesome.I only hope that the kids listen to her and smarten up a little bit. But,it does have to start at home.I want every person who reads this to sit down today with your kids and teach them how to respect themselves and others. Please remember that they learn by watching you. Pros: excellent school resource officer Cons: kids as young as 5 bullying others more
