Disappointing 5/24/2009

Very disappointing.\r I went to the the one in Sugar Land, Texas. The ambiance and interior were upscale and attractive with an attractive bar and pretty good service, what you'd expect for a more expensive trendy dining establishment. But I was very disappointed in the food. \r I am used to New York-quality authentic Chinese food, and PF Chang's Bistro just doesn't measure up. In fact it's not even close. The chefs have no subtlety or delicacy in making these dishes. The entrees were over-sauced, over-flavored and over-spiced, to the point that you couldn't taste the actual food and vegetables. The sauces were overpowering and upsetting. Also, the wonton dumplings in the wonton soup are under-cooked, I think on purpose, so the dough has the consistency and texture resembling cookie batter without the sweetness. I found this way of preparing wontons inferior to traditional wonton soups. \r For the prices they charge, you'd think they could get an experienced Chinese native-trained chef, but the food tastes like it was prepared by an American trying to cook in Chinese style. A big failure IMO.\r If all you care about is atmosphere, then you'll find PF Chang's has very upscale clientele and nice ambiance. Very well-dressed and well-heeled customers. If you care anything about the quality of the cuisine and authentic and high quality food preparation, I would skip this place and skip the hefty check as well. Pros: Interior design, clientele, ambiance Cons: food not authentic or quality Chinese more
