I will ABSOLUTELY NOT be taking my baby to this office. I can not believe the experience I had with there office staff. I have called twice now trying to set up a consult with Dr. Hartman or Dr. Tann about vaccines and other questions before my baby is due in July. The ""scheduling"" person tried to shove me off to another location b/c neither of those doctors do rounds at St. Joes - understandable but I live in Lutz and would like my dr to be near where I live. After I explained to her that I do not need them there for the delivery but I would like them to be my babies doctor after the fact and would simply like to meet the doctor before hand to build a relationship and ask any questions a new mom may have in regards to Vaccines or other procedures that are done to a newborn. She then informed me that of course June everyone is pretty much on vacation and can't see me until July - Another shove off to the other office. Then she informed me that if I want to delay any vaccines from there original scheduled date they are not accepting me as a new patient! WHAT? First of all I never mentioned delaying anything - just simply wanted to be in the know about what to do with a new baby. Secondly if I (the mother) don't want to give my baby 5 vaccines in one day your not willing to work with me? Or explain why you (the one with the medical degree) feel the need to shoot my baby up with a super dose of vaccines. And perhaps explain to me the need to give all of these? I did confirm with the ""scheduling"" person if I was hearing her correctly and then I did ask her if this was the correct office I called - You know the one voted ""Best Pediatrician in Lutz"" by the Tampa Trib. I'm not one of the people that don't want to vaccinate my baby but I would like to know what your doing or giving it before you plan on doing it. I would also like to have some rights about it as well as far as questions go. Especially since things are waaaaaaay different now. I simply wanted to know why my newborn on the day it's born is being given a Hep B vaccine. For those of you that don't know what that's for - It's a vaccine given in the hospital to your infant before you leave. This vaccine is for a disease that is ONLY transmitted via IV needles or Intercourse! I don't think my newborn is going to be using and having intercourse with anyone anytime soon.
I am extremely appalled at not only the customer service but the fact that a doctor isn't willing to discuss or explain why they do something! Before they do it. That is complete BS and I feel like other new parents need to know how the ""Best Pediatrician"" practices.
Pros: NONE!
Cons: Not willing to consult with you b/4 shots!!
