I'd like to take a moment to tell you about my terrific experience with my three year old son's swim teacher.
We began swim lessons at the end of January, 2009. In the beginning, my son didn't want to have anything to do with going in the water. In just a matter of two months, he is now swimming underwater by himself several yards!
He is doing back floats and working on turning himself from a swimming position on to his back and then floating. More importantly, he loves being in the water and is proud of his OWN accomplishments! His amazing and rapid development is the direct result of a terrific swim teacher/coach. His coach is fantastic with kids and particularly very young children. I have watched him teach babies and toddlers all the way up to 5-7 year olds. He has an enormous amount of patience with the little ones and doesn't get ruffled by their tantrums or fears.
He is calm and reassuring always. He can also be firm and direct with his expectations.
I am an elementary school teacher, and I am very impressed with his management skills! He is a natural with children! His aptitude with handling kids exceeds some veteran teacher's abilities! For a man so young, it is quite impressive. As for the kids, they just LOVE him!
My son talks about him all the time. When my son does something neat at home, he tells me ""I want to tell my coach what I can do!""
I began swim classes at Swim Venture because there weren't many swim class opportunities in January. Even though as summer approaches and the cheaper city classes are becoming available, it is my desire to continue my child with the slightly-more-expensive semi-private classes at Swim Venture because of the excellent instruction from his teacher.
Pros: great instructors, great lessons
Cons: my son is too attached!
