Just a Rip-Off! 3/8/2009

I am a new dentist and signed up for the financial planning course. I specifically asked on several different occasions for help with my student loan consolidation. I was told several times by Mercer that I would be able to get help from them. Well, I went ahead and signed up for the service ($4000.00)! They collected my information and came up with an investment plan for me. They told me that I have too much debt right now and that I should pay it off and then start investing in a couple of years! What! They NEVER addressed my primary concern about student loan consolidation and managing my debt. So, basically for $4K I got an answer that I already knew. After several weeks of being irritated I asked for my money back and was told by Steve Johnston that it was ""not an option"". I informed Steve that I wouldn't be investing with Mercer and I never plan to after they basically stole $4000 from me just to tell me what I already knew. He didn't seem to care! Stay away from Mercer!! All they have are basic mutual fund investments, which nobody can seem to get under control in this market! There are much better investment avenues for your money. Also, they tout themselves as being so wonderful because they do not work on commission, but they do steal your money up-front and I will continue to fight to get mine back! They are horrible!!!! more
