I made a reservation to leave my two Yorkies at Barkington for three and a half days in January. I had used them before about ten years ago and thought this would be a good choice for such a short time. What a mistake. I arrived a day early to pick my dogs up and am so glad they didn't have to spend another minute here. Both dogs had been groomed the day before they were dropped off, but I could spell the urine on them as they were brought out from the kennel. The paper collars around their necks had become tangled in their coats by the adhesive strip ends to the point where the female couldn't have turned her head without pulling hair out. The attendant who brought them out sneered and said that the female was ""skitsy - not right"". It was obvious that this normally pleasant little dog was scared out of her mind. When I got them home, I realized that the whites of her eyes were deep red - a sign that she had choked at some point. I attempted to contact the kennel several times by phone and e-mail but got no reponse. This is unacceptable for a facility which relies on the trust of pet owners. I wish I had read these reviews before I made the choice to leave my dogs there. I relied on a past reputation and past experience which are no longer applicable. Find another place for your pets.
