I am a vegetarian, a member of Slow Food, and a supporter of our local businesses. I had lunch today at the Spiral Diner with my sister and brother-in-law and regretfully had a most unpleasant experience. The service was extremely slow even though we mentioned to our waiter when we arrived that we were in a hurry. The baked potato that my sister ordered with specific instructions not to include bacon bits and sour cream was delivered with bacon bits and sour cream. The chocolate shake that I placed with my lunch order was delivered two-thirds of the way through my lunch, after I reminded the waiter. When I mentioned these problems to the cashier and noted that my sister had left without eating her baked potato because she didn't have time to wait for it to be prepared again, the cashier not only refused to accept responsiblity for the misunderstanding, he was insolent. Later I called Sarah, who was identified as the owner, and explained my disappointment with the way that the cashier had handled our problem. Sarah was no more helpful than the cashier. I am disappointed that the Spiral Diner apparently doesn't recognize that healthful food must be accompanied with respectful service.
Pros: Healthful food.
Cons: Toxic service.
