I took my cats for their routine annual checkup and vaccinations. Dr. Basta Jr recommended a senior panel so I agreed since they never had one and they were 8 years old. One test came back a bit high on the liver count and he recommended x rays and an ultrasound which all came back negative. He recommended putting her on denosyl which I did. She started to heave and he recommended putting her on laxatone and when that didn't work he said to shave her. I had called this office several times, and he did not bother to return my calls. She continued to heave and I took her back for another liver test. The liver count was a bit high and he said it was ""through the roof"". He looked at her ears and said she was juandiced and didn't even exam her. She had lost a great deal of weight by this time. He told me that he would be telling me when it was her ""time to go"" and I responded I wasn't ready to give up on her yet. He suggested giving her something to stop heaving. I started her on that and she continued to heave. After the poor treatment I received from Dr. Basta Jr., I took my cat to an internal veterinarian and called Pets and Vets to send the liver test results to the internist - which they did not do. It took several calls from the internist to this office to get them to finally release these tests. The internist said that the liver tests were not alarming and suggested giving her antibiotics . I did that and after 3 weeks she started to come around and gaining weight. It has been about 6 months and she has recovered and gained weight and is her normal self. She is still on the denosyl and a little of the anti heave medication. Had I kept going to P&V she surely would have died. Dr. Basta is rude and unprofessional and didn't explore all available courses of treatment as the internist did and was wonderful. I spent a lot of money with Dr. Basta Jr. and almost had a dead cat. If you love your pet don't take it there.
Cons: Unprofessional, uncaring, arrogant
