Not a place for cats 2/25/2009

I quit going to Blue Ravine after taking a kitten there for her intial vaccination series. When she had her first vaccination I asked to make an appointment for her second innoculation but the technician said, "No, just bring her back in 6 weeks." It was close to the holidays and I forgot. When I took her back about 8 weeks later, the series had to be repeated, causing more discomfort for my kitty, an extra trip for me, plus an additional $40. (I made sure I got the second follow up appointment before I left!) Furthermore, after the second injection, the technician basically "dumped" my kitten in her carrier, was rude and unfriendly, and didn't bother to tell me where she received her injection so that I could be careful when I touched her. Absolutely no after care instructions at all. Just attitude. Maybe some of the techs are OK, but this one was enough to make me go elsewhere because I can't take the chance of having her touch my cats again. Before taking the kitten there, I had also taken my older cat, too. There are just no warm fuzzies and all of the staff is really stand-offish and unfriendly. They just didn't seem to care very much about me or my cats. Also you will NOT see the veterinarian every time you go. If you are scheduled to see a veterinarian, plan to WAIT. Every time I went I had to wait a very long time, even though I had an appointment. I don't think they care much for cats at Blue Ravine, but of course are willing to provide services to make money. I am now taking all 3 of my cats (plus a feral 4th cat now) to the Cat Clinic in Folsom. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Cat Clinic. They really love cats and their clients! Pros: competent veterinarians Cons: one rude technician, unfriendly staff more
