Wow, I have to say that I was really surprised how many poor reviews this place got. Being the “yelper” that I am, I admit it, I never checked the reviews here before making my appointment. My mom was only in town for the weekend and I wasn’t very motivated to start this whole “dress up” game. Mind you – I am the only woman on the planet who lacks the “girlie” gene to even be able to match towels much less pick out the dress that’s supposed to be etched in my futures husband brain for years to come. So, around, up and down the one way streets of downtown Sac-town, and we arrive just in time for my scheduled appointment. Perhaps because I’m not really the “frills and foofy” kind, I really liked the older building with the amazing staircase centered in the room. Seriously, it was obviously an older building but the layout seemed perfect with the dressing rooms just hidden at the top of the stairs and select dresses, shoes and accessories decoration the room. My appointment was with “Mina” and right away she complimented me for being the perfect bride who had my hair up my own bra and my own shoes. (Compliments always ease the way through any slightly uncomfortable situation in my world.) She immediately directed me to their sales rack – even before asking my budget. Impressive, they didn’t go straight for the jugular! She gave us space to look things over and then we followed her up the cool stairs and back to a dressing room. Only then did she ask for my price range, and didn’t even cringe when I gave my meek $500 response. Instead she told another girl to bring more dresses! I really felt comfortable with the entire staff. One gal was there to assist with clips and dresses, another, I swear was just there to personally congratulate me when mom and I actually got teary-eyed over one of the gowns. I mean, this was how it was supposed to be, right?! It was fun, comfortable, not rushed, and very informative. They had no problems with us taking pictures and gave us her opinions of the good and bad features of each dress. I really felt as though Mina “knew” about these dresses and the (mysterious) “materials”. She never lost patience even when I wanted to try my top three favorites on again! This was even after letting her know I wasn’t going to buy a dress that day – again, no attitude, no pressure – she just took notes on what I liked and advised me which ones would and would not be available if I opted to wait. I felt very informed if even overwhelmed by the variety. I wish now that I had just bought a damn dress ? I only made it to one other place that day - David’s Bridal in Roseville. That’s a whole different review – let’s just say that I am actually dreading my commitment to go back to the lacey cattle ranch with florescent lighting….. Pros: Large Selection of Dresses Cons: None that I could think of more
