Not perfect, not terrible 12/16/2009

The range is the same as most indoor firing ranges. Maybe I am always just there at a good time, but it did not seem dangerous or unpleasant at all to me. In fact, I think I shot better because the lighting is definitely brighter than other area ranges. However, the other shooters and I obeyed all of the rules, so I did not see how the staff would react to resolve a potentially dangerous situation. When I was browsing around the gun counter, I talked with three different clerks. One was not very helpful, but he was able to refer me to a very friendly and helpful older gentleman who was able to answer my questions well. We were having a nice conversation when a younger guy, who talked as if he were in charge, butted in and started showing off his knowledge of obscure gun trivia and ability to rapidly disassemble and reassemble the old rifle we were looking at. I can see how some people could be turned off by his personality, but I think he was genuinely trying to be helpful, but was a little awkward about it. Overall, the prices on handguns are about $15-20 more expensive than my usual gun shop, which has some of the best prices in Ohio. I guess they feel that the slight extra cost is compensated by the convenience of a shooting range, a location right off the highway, and extended business hours. Overall, the place doesn't have the charm of a neighborhood gun shop, it doesn't have the cheapest ammo in town, and the staff is a bit hit or miss, but I do not understand the abject hate that some of the other reviewers have for the place. It does a lot of things decently, as opposed to a single thing very well. Pros: Good range, good selection, decent prices Cons: ammo and some handguns overpriced more
