I've just completed visits to Golds, Curves, the YMCA and OZ.
OZ has BY FAR the best price for the facilities and hours.
Their facilites match the Y... and their classes roughly parallel the Y... without the injection of small children into the pool. Their prices are cheaper for individual memberships than the Y... while family memberships are more expensive. OZ has a few things the Y does not... Racquetball courts and a spinning classroom for example.
The womens locker/shower room was BY FAR the nicest one in town. I was very positively impressed!
Comments on the other ""competition""...
Gold's Gym is the cheapest in town, but it's only machines and one classroom.
Curves is a set workout, and you ""plateau"" in around 9 months time and there are no showers.
Snap fitness is the only 24/7 but they have no pool and not always staffed. Your key card lets you in if there's no one on staff.
Spokane Club is the most expensive in town at $80-100/month plus hefty sign up fees. I didn't bother to even visit them.
Pros: Impressively nice facilities
Cons: A little too eager to sell me ""extras""
