bad experience 10/26/2009

We adopted a kitten from the Cumberland County Animal Shelter. The kitten appeared to be healthy and we took her to this vet because the shelter recommended them. Our kitten was already spayed and received her shots at the vet office. She was later de-clawed. She healed well with no infection. Approximately two months after that she came down with a mysterious illness and the vet said she was likely born with it or contracted it somewhere. Our 4 month old kitten had to be put to sleep. We accepted this as a fluke. We take very good care of our pets. Our cat stayed indoors and was spoiled rotten. It was our 5 year olds very first pet! She was devastated. We waited a few months and decided to get our daughter another kitten. We went to the Animal Raven in Raeford. We took the new kitten back the this vet and proceeded to do the same thing, shots, spayed, de-clawed, etc...And again, two months after she was de-clawed she comes down with the SAME mysterious illness!? I find this a little hard to believe...I feel like they both contracted some kind of virus while at the vets office (during surgery, etc) possibly. The vet also re-uses needles. We saw them take a needle out of the drawer, use it and then put it back in the same drawer. This was disturbing to say the least. Now, our family is devastated once again and our 5 year old little girl thinks that it is all somehow her fault. I don't want to accuse them of doing this on purpose but to have the nerve to tell us ""well, it looks like you got struck by lightening twice!"" I mean, WOW! I do not recomment this vet office! more
