We received a gift certificate for the holidays, prepared daycare for our infant and cleared our work schedule so that we could enjoy a day at the spa. Upon arrival, we were given very old and worn out robes that were too small and did not fit. The lights did not work properly in the men?s locker room, the steam shower was out of order in both women and men?s room and there were no keys for the lockers to put our things in. When we finally prepared to go into the rest area to meet our massage therapist, the water that was provided on the refreshment table was stale tasting, the water in the thermos was ice cold so we could not even pour ourselves a cup of tea. The area was a complete mess with old cups and napkins all over the table. Our massage therapists finally greeted us. We hoped that a deep tissue massage would make up for the awful ambience. The therapist talked the entire time about how this Amadeus Spa location was closing in a few weeks and relocating to the Fairmont Hotel. And that business was slow because of the economy, and how she did not want to be a massage therapist anymore because she was tired and broke. She went on to talk about how the company does not pay the therapists enough money. This is only the highlights of what she discussed during the grueling hour long massage. This entire day was the most awful experience we have ever had at a spa. We are well-established physicians in the community, and refer our patients, friends, and family to spa retreats and massage therapists on a daily basis. We are so disappointed with the service that was given at this spa.
