I have been to Miraku often because my boss likes to give gift certificates to the staff for Miraku. It is conveniently located in Walnut Creek across from Toyota, so you can have your car serviced until midnight and eat dinner. The atmosphere is authentic Japanese. If you are adventerous, order the Kaiseki dinner, which is many courses of small items. If you don't like fish, there is Chicken Teriyaki, and the tempura is delicious. \r

The only unpleasant experience I have consistently had there is that the owner does not understand that the law in CA for gift certificates is that they cannot expire if they are for a specific dollar amount. My boss usually gives me a $100 gift certificate, we use $80 for the meal, and she gives me back my "change" in another gift certificate with a 30 day expiration date. That is illegal, but I don't argue anymore, because it makes it awkward for my guests. I just throw it away and come back next year with the new certificate. She also won't let
