Greatest VW Mechanic Ever! 9/18/2008

John is such a great guy. He's honest, friendly, and truly cares about you and your vehicle. John's Mobile Engine Service is also only 1/2 a block from Caltrain so it was extremely convenient.\r \r I was searching for a mechanic to fix my super beetle but I didn't want any mechanic. I wanted a guy who would do quality work, not rip me off, and who most of all had ample amounts of experience with VW's. After endless hours of online searches and disappointing phone calls, I finally found John.\r \r He not only helped me fix my clutch in my 1973 VW super beetle, he also did a bunch of other things to make my car run like no other beetle i've ever driven, it purrs! You heard me right, my beetle purrs!!!\r \r When I took my car to his shop, I was surprised he was a one-man-shop. He had his beetle out front, and three cars in the shop, two Karmann Ghia's and another beetle. (When I picked up my car, there was an old Porsche in mint condition!!!)\r \r To change the clutch, he had to take out the engine. So while he was at it, he cleaned everything so well, it was unrecognizable, I practically thought I had a new engine. He even painted the parts and tucked all the hoses and wires neatly away. When I drove my car, it was unrecognizable. From an abandoned car in the junkyard that would barely move, to a soaring bubble of pure steel - it's insane.\r \r He didn't even tell me but I know he helped me wipe the inside and outside of my windows too. All while he had a bad foot that was obviously killing him.\r \r To sum John up, great guy, great reasonable prices, and a guy ladies bring wine and cookies to for his consistently great work - and just for being an upstanding guy. He doesn't even advertise, probably because he already has so many loyal customers throughout the years. more
