I have lived in FL for 20 years. I have always heard about AJ s aggressive bouncers in the past. The rumors were confirmed first hand as I thought it would be a good idea to take my dad and brother who came from Houston. The bouncer asked for a $10 each cover with a rude stare. I suggested to go somewhere else, my brother agreed. The bouncer mouthed off to him and pushed him down the front steps and shoved my dad! Unbelieveable! More came. One choked me from behind while two sat on my legs and held my arms in locks. One was telling me ""You're going to sleep!"" as the other choked me. They stopped when the police arrived. They were holding my brother down and beating him in the face while this was happening to me. An ambulance came to fix him up. It was all filmed by another customer but the police said it did not help us too much because it did not show the intitial confrontation where the bouncer shoved my brother down the stairs. The police charged the bouncer and my brother with assault. They both dropped the charges to avoid going to jail and court. The bouncer also lied to police because in his statement he said it all started because my dad did not want to pay the cover! Funny, the girl behind the counter had his credit card the whole time! She had it because my dad gave it to her! Hello! My dad is plenty wealthy as well, he does not care about paying whatever for anything anyway! I asked the police how many times they had been here in the past becuase of these steroided out door guys and he said ""plenty"". I asked if they keep their names in the system so when someone actually gets really hurt, there will be a history on them and he said they have and do. So if you are thinking about going to AJ s for a good time, either A. Keep your mouth shut and look down as you pay your $10.00 cover remebering there are stairs behind you and a roid rage freak or 10 in front of you or B. You may be an Ultimate Fighter and this may actually be a good time for you!
Pros: None.
Cons: People need to be aware of these practices. I hope Citysearch takes this into consideration and doesn't delete this warning. This is all true and written in police reports.
