Well I guess you could say I am kind of partial to Black's as my family has been eating there since 1938, a scant 6 years after they opened across the street at their old location. Its close enough to Gonzales that we have been many times over the decades. I'm now 36 and have been eating there as long as I can remember. What a great family the Black's are, and nowhere else will you feel more wecome. Often Mr. Black is right there and you may see sons Kent and Terry in the mix too. They have the ""secret"" to the best post oak fired 'Que around.
Pros: Great value, delicious, friendly folks, historic downtown area, ambience is just right.
Cons: If very busy, sometimes the serving line seems to be moving slow, but hang in there, its worth it.
