What's Good For One Can be Disaster for Another: I used Trussville Animal Hospital for over ten years with my old Cocker Spaniel until his death. When I adopted my current pup I changed vets because Main Street was more convenient. That was a mistake on my part. Unfortunately my pup was diagnosed with an anal gland problem. I knew exactly what it was from my previous pet. In the past I we had administered a prescription antibiotic and exasperated the gland with great results. With my current pet, I took him to the Main Street vets expecting the same treatment. I was told he would need a $450 to $500 surgery and which included a few days at the clinic. Knowing what I knew about the problem, I got two "second opinions" and both said even if the gland had ruptured (which it had) that there is no reason to put the animal through the stress and the owner to the expense of the surgery.
