WORST service EVER 8/6/2008

We had Standard come out and look at our dryer that was on the fritz. First of all, they said they would call to schedule a time and we never heard from them. Then they just showed up unannounced. The technician was very nice and told me I might need a new part. He suggested I order it and just monitor the dryer in the meantime. If it wasn't acting up anymore, he said to just call and cancel the part. He also asked what day in the next week would be good for them to come out - I said Tuesday. My husband then got a call from them that they tried coming out for the original service call and no one was home. He explained that one of their technicians did in fact come out. They then said there was no way the part would be in by Tuesday. Meanwhile, our dryer was working just fine again, so I called to cancel the rest of the service. The guy on the phone told me that I was just charged for the labor ($130), but I was looking at a receipt that read $290 (part + labor). He was very condescending and again told me there was no record of being charged for the part. I told him I would check with my bank and call back if there were any descrepencies. There were - I was charged the full $290. He said he had no record of it, but that he would be sure my card was credited back. The bottom line is that they are incredibly disorganized, I can't believe they are running a business! The guy on the phone later called back and said he found the info and that my card would be credited back in a week - JUST LIKE I TOLD HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE! I never got any kind of an apology.
