I started getting involved in sports and fitness in 2nd grade...going to basketball camps and running in the junior olympics. While in high school, I suffered from a serious knee injury during a basketball game. I was not able to have surgery and fix my knee because I was too young and still growing so in order to be able to play again, I went through a year of physical therapy. I was able to come back with a knee brace and play. As I grew older, the ligaments in my knee grew weaker and my knee would ""pop"" out of place. At 29, I decided to visit my doctor again to see what my options were for the future. He didn't give me any options. He said I needed surgery immediately to fix my knee so it did not get any worse. I went through another 6 months of physical therapy and got to the point where I was starting to jog again. Then, something else bad happened...I started getting horrible headaches. Headaches that lasted 24/7 and all I could do was lay on the couch. I saw various doctors and they prescribed all kinds of medications that didn't work. Then I saw a chiropracter for 2 years that did help a bit but never completely got rid of my headaches. I also saw a neurological chiropracter for a couple months and also a neurologist. Sports/Fitness had been my life and 5 years had passed where I had hardly been able to exercise. I decided that I was going to go see a personal trainer to see if they could help me because I felt like I was running out of options and I didn't know what else to do. I called a couple places but Dan at Body Symmetry really sounded like he was very educated and knowledgeable so I signed up with him. He has helped me strengthen my knee better than it has been in a long time and my headaches are almost completely gone. I feel like a different person. I was so inspired by how much Dan has helped me that I have decided to get my personal trainer certification so that I will be able to help other people as much as Dan has helped me.
