Redwood Drive-In provides a safe haven for families and movie nuts alike. As long as you work and play well with others you're welcome. There's always a police car on site in case someone doesn't know how to play nice. It's like stepping back to a gentler time where families aren't nickled and dimed to death at concession stands. You CAN bring your own popcorn! You CAN bring a cooler of soda-pop or Kool-Aid for your whole family! You can even bring Grandma's Geritol and nobody is going to tell you that you must buy their products. I would imagine this place would be ideal for people with Diabetes or Hypoglycemia (SP?) What's more, lawn chairs and blankets ARE permitted! Spend $60 at Harbor freight on a power inverter and you can use your electric grill for dogs and burgers. (Just be sure that your battery is up to the task. I bring along a deep cycle marine battery that I use for tailgating.) I find that it's best to do any real cooking between features so that there's no smoke from the grill drifting toward the screen. You might find happy smiling people looking at you and asking if they can throw their dogs on your grill too but it's not a bad way to meet people. About the only downside that I see for some people is the cash-only policy. Admission is $7/person. If you bring/make your own food and drinks then that's the only expense. That won't even buy you a large popcorn at most movie theaters.
Pros: Price, comfort and family friendly atmosphere
Cons: Cash only
