Never going back. 7/29/2008

Chili's finds itself in a crowded, highly-competitive, and difficult restaurant segment. The food isn't good enough to charge a lot but they have full service and one can tell that the hike in food costs and the minimum wage are taking their toll on profits. Management is having to cut corners on the physical plant and my hunch is that store managers are seeing minimal bonuses given the profitability challenge. I've been in several Chili's over the past year in Lake Oswego, Oregon; The Woodlands, TX; and just last week at this one near Valley Forge. Well, I'll give them this, they're consistent. Their floors were all dirty and greasy. The service was slow and the food ok, but not a good value. The beer at this one was only cool, not cold. The bathrooms were uniformly dirty and in need of repair (think broken soap dispensers, broken newspaper holders, etc). You win, Chili's. Your restaurants are out of control and I'm never setting foot in one again. Pros: Any port in a storm? Cons: Dirty; slow, ambivalent service; poor food value. more
