Ah, the Sabrina's cafe, the original one, nope ,not the one with on callowhill whose pancakes consistently taste salty and unusally gross. Nope, this is THE Sabrina's the one philadelphians rave about. Much to my dismay it was only mediocre. Granted it was a Sunday morning, the wait was almost twenty whole minutes and the only thing that kept me from leaving was A) the hype of the restaurant and B) It was my best friends mother's birthday brunch. After waiting twenty minutes under the unapologetically blistering sun in July (though I was offered water by a nice waitress) we were seated and menus arrived. I ordered the challah $7 French toast with vanilla bean maple syrup. In 10 minutes an average portion of challah french toast with a side of ordinary maple syrup arrived. The french toast was remarkably bland and the syrup was simply average. Keep in mind, according to regulars, the french toast is one of the best items on the menu. However, I was not impressed. The Hashbrowns were mediocre; they were simply hunks of plain unseasoned idaho potatoes which were also bland.
Pros: nice well lit place that is fun to sit in with friends and nice service
Cons: mediocre food
