I had a front row seat at the Sushi Bar of the still new Katsuya at the Americana. The head Sushi Chef was fat and jolly-but, his team's product was mediocre if not INEDIBLE. They managed to turn my favorite dish of Tuna with Crispy Fried Onions into a soggy morass of wet sludge on top of inordinately thick and sinewy sponges which doubled as the tuna. My next coveted choice of a Yellowtail Handroll--looked as thin and flat as a kid's FRUIT ROLL-UP, and tasted as bland as one would think of a DEATH-ROW inmate's LAST MEAL. When I politely conveyed my disappointment the JOLLY CHEF, laughed it off and said, ""Sorry, it's Monday."" Needless to say, at almost $60 for a MEDIOCRE MEAL for ONE--'Sorry' is not enough!
Pros: pleasant location
Cons: sushi sous-chef had licked his fingers and then continued to prepare sushi! 'Nuf said.
