There are two goddesses: one of art and beauty and one of greed and material gain. If you devote your life to art and beauty... material gain will follow . Unfortunately, at Mathis Murphy the goddess of hype and materialism have tried to leap-frog art and beauty.
A legendary clothes horse taught me that a great haircut should be the accessory that makes a K-mart outfit look couture. A hair cut at Mathis Murphy made my couture look like K-mart.
Mathis Murphy makes sure that the clientele is aware of their forged pedigree. "Paris and Lindsay go there all the time" is manipulatively dropped every where when researching this Salon. It is a cheap ruse, I spent two hundred dollars to find out my hairdresser Sydnee possessed all the craftsmanship of a high school vocational school. I received the all time worst hair cut of my life. The salon kindly offered to fix it for free but I didn't trust them enough, to have the wisdom to:
A. listen to me.
B. follow directions
C. My travestly of a cut can be seen all over the Silverlake hipsters but it does not suit my face and it was not what I asked for. The craftsmanship wasn't so good either... less tan a week later I can see all off the compositional flaws when it hasn't been dried with a hair drier. The reason I have short hair is so I do not have to dry it!
When I first made an appointment with Sydnee she didn't show up because she burnt her hand ( I invisioned Chernobyl, but when I asked, two days later, there were no visible marks and she barely remembered it)
For me letting someone go near my head with a pair of Scissors is a leap of faith... I smacked the concrete.
I'm still not sure what happened... I do not think I had Paris or Lindsay's hair dresser. I was perfectly willing to pay handsomely for the right cut but I've had better cuts at Floyd's for twenty bucks.
Mathis Murphy needs to rely more on the goddesses of art and beauty and maybe then they will deserve the good press releases.
