I liked the doctors at Camino, but I could not get out of there without having to sell my first born to pay the bill. $1200 for teeth cleaning? Granted it is under anesthesia but, really? That's more than it costs for a human! I had to go to my old vet all the way in Sun Valley, who cleaned his teeth, under anesthesia and did an extraction and apologized for the price being higher because he was old....$211!!! I gave them $300 and told them the rest was a donation. That price also included antibiotics. I love my doctor in Sun Valley, and regret not doing the trek out there in the first place. And worst part of all is when your dog is very sick, Camino will not keep your dog over night. Instead they refer you to the emergency animal hospital for overnight care until you can bring them back the next morning, that will tack on yet another $1000 to the already astronomical bills. The doctors at Camino are good, they put my dog on a food that has kept him healthy so far, so for that I am grateful. But the teeth cleaning threw me for a loop. If your animal is perfectly healthy and you don't want to travel this is a great place for you, but if your dog is ill, you better be rich and prepared to have every test done in the book, they NEVER start out conservatively. Your dog is sneezing?Well, before I look in his nose to see if there is something in there, let's run a panel, and some x-rays, and lets throw in a cat scan while we're at it, don't forget the nose biopsy! Let me go get you an estimate..ok I am exaggerating, but when the doctor says, ""let me go and get you an estimate on that"" and they do say that, I get worried. Shouldn't teeth cleaning just be standard pricing? Why do I need a friggin estimate? Just tell me how much. He's not a car, he's my dog...and he needs his teeth cleaned not a new set of porcelain veneers.
Pros: Sweet front desk staff, good doctors.
Cons: Prices way too high, too aggressive, testing for everything at once instead of process of elimination.
