I had the worst haircut of my life at Joe Hamer. One of the students butchered my hair with electric shears when I asked for a simple trim. I have straight long hair so it is surprising that anyone could ruin my hair so badly, but he did. There was absolutely no style to the cut and it was uneven. In addition, I asked him to take off about an inch and he cut three inches off, he cut uneven layers that are randomly about 2 inches shorter than the rest of my hair, he left the front with blunt edges and did not trim the split ends as I asked. After I left the salon, almost in tears, I called to have someone with experience fix the completely botched haircut. When I returned 3 hours later, my hair was re-cut by another student who did a horrible job again. After 20 minutes of suffering through the second cut where she tried to soften the first haircut, I had her stop and just walked out of the salon, as I didn?t want her to make my hair look any worse. \r

I have been getting my hair cut at Joe Hamer for over 2 years and have had good cuts by former students but I am shocked that they would employ the people who cut my hair the last time and that they would let these students cut hair with no oversight by experienced stylists. I am also appalled that when I called to have the first haircut fixed, I was given to another student. \r

I understand that student haircuts are not the same level of expertise as stylists, but I don?t think there could be anything worse for business than a customer leaving the salon completely horrified with their haircut, no matter who cut their hair. I was discussing my experience with a close friend who told me that she had an even worse experience when the same student cut her hair.
