Quite Possibly My Favorite Pizza...EVER! 5/4/2008

I am not a pizza connoisseur. In fact, if I can avoid having pizza, I will do everything I can to do so. I LOATHE company lunches because it's invariably pizza. I'm not wild about a lot of church gatherings because the food is either pizza or lasagna.\r \r But the Rock has made me a convert. I will go out of my way to eat there. A friend of mine waited TWO HOURS to eat there on Father's Day. I'm not sure I'm that much of a die hard, but I regularly want to go there when I go out.\r \r I recently celebrated my birthday with a large group of people and we went and hung out in the bar and sat down and had pizza. Fitting such a large group there is not the Rock's expertise, but they managed well enough. It's more about the spacing than anything else. They have a fantastic balcony and should consider making that their ""party"" area and use it to reserve spots for parties of 8 or larger.\r \r Anyway, the ambiance is really cool - all rock n' roll themed based on classic rock albums/songs. The music is all classic rock, the food is named after classic rock. They are very successful with their theme. The menus, wait staff outfits, the lighting, the decor, it all works well together. The decorations are largely exposed brick and pipe, amp cabs make up a lot of the storage area for dishes and I've even seen a guy with a mohawk flinging pies. \r \r I've eaten there three times and have sampled many of the pizzas (nice benefit of going with a large group) and they're all very good. Bonus points to the Rock for making a pizza that wraps up the experience of ordering a basket of hot wings into a pizza. My personal favorite, however, is called the Crazy Train. A nice, spicy, flavorful combinations of flavors with pepperoni, spicy sausage, garlic, spicy chiles, etc. Not overpowering at all.\r \r And I can't recommend the beer-battered onion rings highly enough as an appetizer. Tempting to just pound those down with a few pints instead of moving on to the pizza at all. ;) Pros: Great food, fun atmosphere, good brews Cons: Don't handle groups 8 or more very well when they're busy, no reservations for large groups more
