Unsatisfied Customer 5/22/2008

I purchased an $8000+ Polaris ATV spring 2007, believing it had a one year warranty. I called and spoke to (unknown) a salesman and was told that a ""click"" I was hearing was normal. As it turns out the click got louder. So this spring, (256 miles on it!) I took it in and had a salesman ride it to see if the ""click"" was normal. He told me it wasn't. I paid a $75 diagnostic fee to have them check the ""click"". I was told a defective or improperly installed (factory) solenoid caused failure in the transmission, and it would cost $823 for repairs to the transmission and a ""broken air box""(I hadn't opened the air box!). I could 1. pay the money 2. pick up my machine with the transmission in a box or 3. If I wanted the machine's transmission put back together (not fixed) it would cost me 3 hours of labor at $75 per hour. \r \r Calls to Polaris ""Customer Service"" (National): 1st call - no help offered the dealers phone number then hung up. 2nd call - (Joey) that's unfortunate, not covered by warranty. When I asked for a Supervisor, he connected me after a long wait to ?Monte? who told me ""I guess you should have bought an extended warranty - machines break"". \r \r Polaris is unwilling to back their machines if they break after 6 months and 1 day - regardless if it is a factory error... Cost per mile for ownership: 8823/256= $34.46 more
