When we moved to Dallas my daughter and I went on a search for the best yoga studio in the city. Suze Curtis' DPYP won hands down. The first thing that I wanted was someone who really understood the body and could precisely explain the effect of specific movement on the joints. I had problems with my knees and didn't want to suffer any more 'sports injuries'. Suze helped me understand how avoiding the pain kept constricting movement and increasing the problem. She could explain to me exactly what was going on in the knees with each pose and therefore helped me trust and keep trying when I was convinced I couldn't go on.\r
My knees represent a kind of metaphor for my life. Suze and her great staff have been there upholding me during a time of personal transformation and renewal. This is a place of acceptance and genuine friendship. Suze and her staff are a group of very centered people who understand yoga and its relationship to the healing of the body, mind and soul. The time I spend at DPYP is like:\r
* being on a spiritual retreat\r
* a visit with a wise friend/sister/mother (and occasional brother!) \r
* a class with such individualized attention that I feel I have a personal trainer\r
* a trip to healing springs\r
Suze has created a beautiful oasis of peace and calm. Suze shows genuine respect for all religious paths and makes me feel that each time I am in the studio I am free to re-connect with my God. I've made friends and have grown in harmony, purpose and self-esteem... and my knees are better! My genuine thanks to Suze and her great staff! I'm so glad you are in my life!
Pros: A very accepting atmosphere where beginner and expert can both get individual attention and be challenged. GREAT variety of classes. Relaxed and accepting atmosphere and easy parking.
Cons: Too long a drive from my home, but worth it!
