This place is by far the best restaurant on the islands. We have been coming to Sanibel/Captiva for years and recently revisited The Mad Hatter for the most incredible sunset dinner. We were blown away by the quality of the food and level of service we received. Not to mention the breathtaking sunset that can be seen from just about everywhere in the dining room. The restaurant is cozy and romantic with simple, yet sophisticated decor. Scallops were to die for and my husband has yet to stop raving about his Lamb. Apps and desserts were every bit as wonderful as the main courses! We stopped on the way out to express our gratitude for such a memorable evening and spoke with one of the new owners (husband is the chef and wife operates the dining room).
