My first experience at Strings was disappointing. I went with two friends on a Monday night. The service was excellent, the bread was great, but the meal wasn't at all what I expected from the reputation or the price. I ordered the New York Strip steak, and asked that it be cooked rare. The steak was somewhat overcooked, but that wasn't so bad -- I expect that, honestly. The potatoes on the side were overly salty, and the side-dish of sauteed spinach was so salty as to be inedible. The dessert wasn't that great either -- the mousse cake had a flavorless, cakelike crust that didn't go at all well with the mousse. The coffee, however, was wonderful. \r

Again, the service was great, but I won't be back, nor will I recommend the restaurant to friends.
Pros: Great service, delicious bread, excellent martini
Cons: The food wasn't good, was poorly seasoned and hadn't been tasted before leaving the kitchen.
