My daughter attended WMS for 4 years. Her last year was nothing short of a nightmare. A decision made emotionally devasted my child. A political decision I was not informed of involving my child and another child emotionally crushed my daughter. Her self-esteem was crushed. My daughter was being allowed to roam around classroom during scheduled work times. As compared to previous years my daughter's learning decreased 100% from previous years. Previous year ""model student"" was used to describe my daughter in progress report as well as being advanced student. I moved to another state to help family member to enroll my daughter in another school. I feel if I had not made this decision my daughter would have failed or maybe be held behind. My daughter excelled more in only two months at new (Montessori) School then first 5 months of school year at Williamsburg Montessori. The 2-6 yr. program is much better at WMS then elementary grade programs.\r
For some reason in recent years WMS started having high turn over rate of teachers in elementary grade levels. This is not common practice of Montessori School. I understand ""politics"" is played in most private schools but not to the academic and emotional welfare of another child. Williamsburg Montessori's tuition is higher than other private schools as well as their contract uses ""unconditional"". This should not be if they are not providing proper enviorment for children to learn. Over past 4 yrs WMS, in my opinion, has been more and more toward growth of school rather than welfare and education of students.
Pros: 2-6 year programs
Cons: Elementary programs not sufficient in my opionion. Politics used more each year.
