After moving to Sterling Heights, I used this vet for my then 14 year old lab . They were fine w/ her routine exams and shots. When she started having seizures at the age of 16, I called during one seizure in order to bring her in and was told they ""were not staffed w/ someone who could handle that right now"" and sent me to an emergency hospital in Oakland County (45 minutes away). Later in the year when my dog started having smaller microseizures, they were able to help me and I would say their concern and treatment was top notch when I finally had to put her to sleep. I now have a new dog (less than 2 weeks in our home) and she is having runny stools and she became quite lethargic, very fast. I called to bring her in, hopefully same day, and was put on hold by receptionist to see if the dr. wanted to ""stay late"" for the appointment (call made about 4:10 pm and I swear the sign out front blinks ""Appts. 8 to 8""). When the receptionist came back on-line, she did not start with the dr.'s availability, but instead that the costs for the visit would be $290 straight up. It came across more as a way to deter me from coming in rather than informational. At that point, I told her I'd call her back if I decided to bring the dog in. I called another vet's office on Garfield, and was able to get an appointment later that evening, treated like they wanted my business (so very, very nice on the phone and in person), and the total cost for exam, tests, AND needed medication was less than $100. The way I see it, Serenity must already have enough customers to pay for that new building. I expect good and consistent customer service/focus from my vet and Serenity just doesn't provide that. And to find out the huge cost difference in the end just made the decision to change vets all that much easier.
