Customer beware!!! Initial deposit of $2000 not returned after town zoning did not permit pool 4/18/2008

Owner (Karl) started out as professional and understanding and willing to work things out and accommodate all needs. Owner of Urban Pools, Newington CT was available all during proposal process. Owner was very insistent on initial deposit of $2000 to hold installation slot to be first installation in spring. We agreed based on Owners and Urban Pool repeated message that deposit would be FULLY refunded if pool was not approved by town or if we just decided not to go forward for any reason. No work was performed by contractor. Owner of company (Urban Pool, Newington CT) came to site once after contract was signed (several during proposal) Never attended any of the town variance meetings and never provided any information or indication of services performed. Town zoning did not approve pool after several months of appeals. Urban pool sent me a bill for $2060 for travel costs, engineer costs and pool plans. Also had his attorney send letter indicating I would be sued if I publicly pursued the return of my deposit. Owner and contractor will not return any phone calls and will not provide me with items he is charging me for. Customer beware if you need to get town approval for pool DO NOT provide any money to contractor unless 100% sure pool is going to be installed. Question motives! Pros: Accomodating during quoting process Cons: Will not return deposit after town denied pool more
