Airwest did NOT obtain a permit (they told us it was not required .. but it was!) to replace our air conditioner and furnace. Later, after the city "cited" us for work done without a permit, the company admitted they knew it is required, but that they "try to save the homeowner's money". We had to then pay the city "double" the normal fees (over $300) since it was done after installation (basically, it's a penalty) as well as pay for additional energy efficiency testing (HERS testing), another $50.
