This place is historical. As you walk in there is a giant photo of Johnny Carson with a handwritten message stating ""The best meal I ever had was at Peter Luger."" The waiter that served me had that ""Leave me alone but leave me a big tip Brooklyn attitude"" and I wouldn't have it any other way at this place. The attitude fits the decor and history. Go to Peter Luger and split a Porterhouse for 3 with a friend and walk out of there a happy, happy human being. Make sure you bring plenty of cash because you cannot pay with credit (although you can use a debit card). This place is as old school as it gets an everyone should eat here at least once.
