Royal Garden- Hidden Jewel on Rt. 1 South Peabody 2/19/2008

This place is a little out of the way, but you it is well worth the ride up (N) and down (S) Route 1. The Royal Garden is immaculate inside and there is plenty of parking. The staff are pleasant, intellegent and can talk about any current event- and will seat you in their spacious dining room, or you can sit in the intimate bar area. They have a large following of regulars that swear by the place- they must not be computer savy! There are no language barriers here. The lunch and dinner menus are very reasonable, portions are appropriate, and the service efficient and friendly. You can watch the stock market on one flat screen and local news or a game on the other in the bar area. The food is excellent- all of it. My favorite starter is the sweet and sour soup, which will make you feel much better if you have a cold. They make killer mai tai's- both white and regular. The food rarely needs seasoning, like soy sauce, hot mustard, or sweet sauce- the food stands alone very well on it's own. If you want a suggestion- the bartender Paul is always right on. Tell him if you are on a diet, or that you like a certain thing, or have an allergy, and he has always come up with the perfect suggestion. This is definately a diamond in the ruff and first timers will be pleasantly surprised! Pros: Food, staff, service, plentiful parking Cons: A little out of the way Rt. 1 S Peabody more
