Where's the Doctor? 2/16/2008

We have used Highland Pediatric for eight years. Now I wonder why on earth we have stayed! My daughter has been running a fever of 101-104 for six days and has not stopped coughing for the past two days. We saw Dr.(?) Alan Coffman Friday (yesterday) afternoon. He gave me a couple of samples of an over-the-counter cough medicine and took a chest x-ray. No antibiotics. Nothing that I hadn't been doing already all week. She obviously has a secondary infection, but he wanted us to wait until Sunday to see if the fever went down. Long story short, ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT SPEAK TO ANY ONE EXCEPT A SMART-MOUTHED, RUDE NURSE ON SATURDAY NIGHT. CAN NOT GET AN ANTIBIOTIC FOR A CHILD THAT HAS BEEN EXTREMELY ILL FOR A FULL WEEK. CAN NOT TALK TO AN ACTUAL DOCTOR WHO IS SUPPOSEDLY ""ON CALL."" I know that antibiotics can't do anything for a viral infection, but at this point they should be administered prophilactically!!! (As a precaution against secondary infection.) Pros: Some of the Doctors are very good if you can get to see them! Cons: Can't see regular physician on short notice, can't possibly talk to a real doctor on weekends! more
