I used to live in the Philadelphia area, but moved to Northern New Jersey. I was interested in having a custom installed radar detector installed in my Mercedes CL, and I had my eye on the Escort Passport 9500ci.\r
\r
When I was talking to a friend from my old neighborhood, he mentioned that he purchased an Escort portable detector from Larry Perzan. He said he's been a customer of Larry's for years and would not trust anyone else for any kind of car install.\r
\r
I gave Larry a call and asked if he stocked the 9500ci, and received a quote for installation. Larry was upfront over the phone and was able to give me a rough estimate on parts and labor for the job. His labor rate seemed pretty reasonable. He was knowledgeable on the best placement of each of the sensors for the best detection.\r
\r
I told him that I would be coming from northern NJ, and he worked around my schedule to make sure I could make it down. He did the job on a Saturday, which was great because I'm usually very busy during the week.\r
\r
The job was completed entirely while I waited, Larry was even kind enough to offer me lunch when the time came. After the job was finished, David demonstrated the unit to me, and told me how to set the settings to my liking and how to operate the unit. I must say I was very impressed with the way their shop was organized and how the install turned out. The sensors on the front and back of the vehicle are very discreet and beautifully integrated into my front grille.\r
\r
I've been using the unit for a few weeks and must say I'm amazed. I think it has saved me from at least three or four potential tickets. I commute to the Catskills in New York via the thruway some weekends and am frequently on the NJ Turnpike, so the unit is an absolute blessing.\r
\r
Larry was kind and patient in explaining everything to me from the start, and I'm completely satisfied with every aspect of my installation. Making the two hour trip was definitely worth it.
Pros: Knowledgable and kind staff, great install, installers take pride in their work.
Cons: None that I recall.
