The new site for this famed old Georgetown favorite is roomy and family-inviting! It's farther north on the same S. Austin Ave., but easy access for anyone in neighboring towns, including Austin proper. The waitstaff make you feel like you're part of the family, which fits the dining atmosphere and gets your taste buds ready for the treats that follow. The special for the night, the chicken quesadillas, were just right, with just enough zing for a Southwestern taste. Try the rice and two other sides of your choice. Two parties at our table had a superb club sandwich dinner, and a young diner gave us his teenage thumbs up on the bacon cheeseburger. The shrimp were huge and juicy, for my 81-year old mother, along with the sweet potatoes, zucchini, and squash, downed by a combination of people from the table, such that none were left. Two of us had the old favorite, chicken fried steak, and neither of our dinners were left standing. My broccoli was cut perfectly and blended well with the main course, and the mashed potatoes not only tasted superb, but were just the right amount for the dinner, not over-filling. One side order deserves special mention, and that is the carefully chosen combination fruit salad that leaves a taste you want to take home with you. Give the new site a try, go with fun and great taste in mind, and you won't leave disappointed!
Pros: Food, service, family atmosphere
Cons: Parking a bit inconvenient if crowded, and family-level noise if you're looking for a quiet getaway
